Blue Lagoon is a World apart Guest house in Plettenberg Bay, tumbling surf, sandy beaches, a fascinating river estuary, natural wetlands, a tranquil lagoon, the backdrop of the majestic Tsitsikamma Mountains - and these scenic attractions are all to be found here.
The Keurbooms River flood of November 2007 washed away the sea water swimming pool and removed bush that had been obscuring the view and revealed a magnificent panorama of a wide expanse of sea, lagoon, a pristine beach across the lagoon mouth, forested hills and the majestic Tsitsikamma Mountains.
The Blue Lagoon Guest House now stands proudly on its own horse-shoe shaped peninsula jutting out into the sea. It is not situated in an isolated area, as one might expect, but is within walking distance of the town's centre with its charming shops and continental restaurants. Its location is unique indeed!
The Georgian-styled building is designed for spaciousness, reflecting the vast unlimited landscape surrounding it, without sacrificing its ambience of intimacy. This is epitomized by the airy double-storied foyer, the large yet cosy restaurant, the private patios and balconies, and large breakfast and sun downer terrace, that afford spectacular views.
Most of the twelve bedrooms lead to their own downstairs patio or private balcony, that look out over the ocean or lagoon. All rooms are en suite to a Victorian-styled bath and/or shower room, some with twin beds, others with queen-sized beds. Each room has a TV with SA programs (satellite channels available in the TV-room), safe, fan, hairdryer and coffee/tea-making facilities. The sash windows allow the fresh air straight from the Antarctic into the rooms.

Beaches
Plettenberg Bay is perfect for lazy days on the beach. The scenery is stunning, the weather is hot without being humid, the sea is warm enough to swim in and the waves perfect for body boarding.
Whale Watching
Plettenberg Bay justly lays claim to the title of the South African Whale Watching Capital. The whales arrive in the bay from the Antarctic to calve in the warmer water from July until November. There is a species of whale that may be viewed throughout the year, when in the bay. Dolphins are around throughout the year and seals have their own colony of several thousand on a rocky outcrop protruding into the sea called Robberg (a "rob" is the Afrikaans word for "seal"). Boats take groups of some twenty tourists at a time for a two-hour trip out to sea.
Fishing, Kayaking, Boating
Fishing boats take some five tourists at a time for a five-hour sea-trip. The fish one catches is one's own. One could also hire a kayak and join some four-five people with an instructor for a sea trip. Alternatively, one may rent a canoe or small motor boat and go up the river inland by oneself. One is charged by the hour. The rivers are safe to swim in. A sailing boat may be chartered for sailing on Knysna Lagoon and out to sea.
Golf
Plett has two golf courses and nearby Knysna three more, each with its own particular challenges. Usually, clubs may be hired. Golfers will experience different views of the ocean, lagoon and mountains as well as the beauty of the 'fynbos' (flowering shrubs growing in the wild), trees and an abundance of animal and bird life.
Nature Walks/Cycling
There are exhilarating forest walks and cycling routes (bikes for hire), four coastal nature reserves with isolated beaches, rivers and waterfalls. A world still in its original state.
