Cape Town - Green Point
Green Point is to Cape Town what Soho is to London, with Somerset Road being the viby core of Green Point – trendy gay and straight clubs, funky restaurants and ladies of the night.
Green Point is wedged between Table Bay, Signal Hill, Seapoint, the V&A Waterfront and the City Centre. Just round the corner from Green Point are the sublime beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay. Upper Greenpoint has views of Cape Town Harbour. The area has gone through a process of gentrification over the last 20 years, and is increasingly becoming home to the well-heeled.
The new Cape Town Stadium has been constructed on Green Point Common for the 2010 Fifa World Cup. Numerous infrastructural developments are taking place, with the upgrade to Western Boulevard and the new Granger Bay Boulevard being constructed, along with a massive investment in creating an urban park around the stadium.
