Hout Bay
Hout Bay, named by the Dutch explorers, lies almost halfway between Cape Town and Cape Point.
The wood from Hout Bay was used to help build Cape Town and hence its name 'Wood Bay'.
Formally a fishing village, many Capetonians flock to Hout Bay over the week end in order to partake in the local fish and chips and hopefully to catch a glimps of the Cape seals who have turned the harbour into their home.
To See
Hout Bay is surrounded by three of the most breath taking scenic view of CapeTown. Chapmans' Peak Drive, although a toll road, offers spectacular views of the harbour and links Hout Bay to Noordhoek.
Suikerbossietakes one of the beaches of Llandudno and the famous Sandy Bay, and also the route to Cape Town and other Atlantic Beaches.
The third route is that which leads into the pictouresque Constantia Valley and the Constantia Wine Route.
WORLD OF BIRDS
Visit the World of Birds nature park in Hout Bay,the largest private Bird Park in Africa, with over 3000 birds in natural surroundings.
