West & North Coast
Milnerton is the oldest of the suburbs along the northern Table Bay. It is a solely residential area with a beautiful old part with pretty houses and many trees.
The next town is Table View. One can walk there from Milnerton along the beach. It is a residential area popular with young families and the view of the mountain is breathtaking. At the beach one can often see kite surfers who, hanging from huge kites, let themselves be dragged through the surf by the wind.
Bloubergstrand lies some kilometres further north. Despite the bigger distance from Cape Town, the view here, is the best. Table Mountain is often veiled by a blue haze and that is where the name "Blouberg" originates.
Particularly wide is the beach at the neighbouring Melkbosstrand. Here a new Golf Estate has opened and it has one of the few camping grounds of the Cape Town area.
GOLF - In Milnerton, the popular and - due to the wind - challenging Milnerton Golf Course. It stretches right behind the dunes at a lagoon with numerous waterbirds. Not forgetting The Atlantic Beach Golf Estate !
SURF / KITE SURF - Staying in the Blouberg area means you are in close proximity to a number of excellent beaches as well as being on the doorstep of the West Coast and its attractions. The Blouberg beaches, with their famous view towards Table Mountain, are extremely popular with watersports enthusiasts - particularly kite surfers and windsurfers.
OF INTEREST - Spring the West Coast flowers put on a dazzling display and there are also a number of nature reserves nearby that nature lovers will enjoy.
SHOPPING - You're still within easy driving distance of the city centre and its attractions, while Canal Walk Mall is around the corner for hours of shopping, restaurants and entertainment.
ACCOMMODATION - There is plenty of beachfront accommodation available in the area including a number of hotels, as well as a variety of guesthouses and B&B's
